‘Maya: The Birth of a Superhero', directed by Poulomi Basu and CJ Clarke, is a coming-of-age tale of a young British Asian girl’s sexuality: her period, her power, her magic, and her protest.

BISHI’s score, which was inspired by Indian Classical music, choral music, ambient electronica, and the sound of horror movie soundtracks, will be realised for voice, sitar, violin, and electronics.

‘Maya: The Birth of a Superhero', directed by Poulomi Basu and CJ Clarke, is a coming-of-age tale of a young British Asian girl’s sexuality: her period, her power, her magic, and her protest.

BISHI’s score, which was inspired by Indian Classical music, choral music, ambient electronica, and the sound of horror movie soundtracks, will be realised for voice, sitar, violin, and electronics. 

BISHI is an independent artist, composer and producer born in London of Bengali heritage, known for her trademark electric sitar and four-octave vocal range.

BISHI is celebrated for the use of groundbreaking technology in her live performances, with her first AV installation ‘Reflektions,’ becoming the first artist’s work to be projection-mapped across UNESCO World Heritage sites, The Queen’s House & Royal Naval College, London.
