The Alex Voysey Blues Band presents ‘Faux Bonamassa’

‘Outstanding, energetic, breathtaking! A brilliant night – Alex Voysey’s guitar playing is out of this world’
The Alex Voysey Blues Band brings together 4 stunning musicians to reimagine the genius of Blues Titan, Joe Bonamassa. Receiving rave reviews UK-wide, this energy-filled show brings together Bonamassa’s greatest songs of the last 2 decades blended with Alex’s own personal style of virtuosity, exceptional improvisation and contemporary blues mastery.
A Bonamassa superfan, Alex not only has the playing capability to emulate this legend, he also has the nerd-knowledge to ensure it is done right!

Expect to hear all your Bonamassa favourites including ‘Sloe Gin’, ‘The Ballad of John Henry’, ‘Athens to Athens’, ‘Woke Up Dreaming’, ‘Dustbowl’, ‘A Conversation with Alice’, ‘Stop’ and many, many more.

Formed in 2021 by one of the very best new contemporary blues guitarists, Alex Voysey, the band continue to go from strength to strength, constantly evolving and continuing to excite audiences wherever they go. Alex is joined by bass playing force-of-nature Ben Hands on his incredible Dingwall 6 string, drummer Paul Arthurs who is currently enjoying huge success with the touring Kate Bush show ‘Moments of Pleasure’, and Bristol keys player and musical theatre director, Andy Alpass. Together, they bring diverse musical backgrounds to the table, a huge breadth of experience, and revel in their shared love of Bonamassa.

Recent highlights have included their sold-out debut at the legendary Soho Pizza Express jazz club and headlining at the Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival, with sold-out debut shows also at Swanage Blues Festival, Diseworth Blues Club and Skipton Town Hall more recently.

Their trio album AV3, released November 2023, is currently receiving wide radio success and was album of the week on several stations. It also reached no 10 in the IBBA charts. Its successor, full band originals album ‘Blues In Isolation’ was recorded with veteran producer Paul Long (also producer for BB King/Catfish/BBCR2) and launched to a sold out Cheltenham Playhouse in March. The first single to be released, Whiskey and Wine, has been hailed by renowned jazz and blues broadcaster Spencer Evans as ‘exceptional’.

‘Alex Voysey is not only a superb musician but plays with a feeling and a passion that is true to the meaning of the blues’
‘What a brilliant night! Alex is one of the best guitarists I have ever seen and that includes
Joe Bonamassa, Gary Moore and Mark Knoppfler. PLEASE come back soon!
‘Fantastic night and a huge talent’
‘Remarkable show last night – thank you for the superb entertainment’

‘Last night, I had the privilege to witness an extraordinary gig by the Alex Voysey Blues Band.

As an avid lover of blues music I was blown away by the show these guys put on. Not least by the virtuosity, skill and dexterity of one of the best guitarists I have seen – and over the years

I’ve seen many of the greats. Alex Voysey is not only a superb musician but plays with a
feeling and a passion that is true to the meaning of the blues’
