Freya Beer
Freya began her musical journey when she released debut single ‘Dear Sweet Rosie’ in November 2019 on her record label Sisterhood Records. The single immediately gained attention from all the right places beginning with a BBC Radio 6 Music live session with Marc Riley in 2020. From then on the only way is up, Beer’s debut album ‘Beast’ was recognised by the British Library and inducted into their British Sound Archive for individuals to study. Festival’s such as the Isle of Wight Festival and Latitude welcomed Freya and her band within the next year and opened doors to sold out headline shows in London and Manchester which soon followed with support slots for Honeyblood and Republica. Most recently Freya made her debut across the pond in New York City where she played a full band headline show at Pete’s Candy Store as well as had an exclusive straight-to-vinyl live recording session at Leesta Vall Sound Recordings in Brooklyn.
Manchester’s Finest stapled Freya as “the newest leader of the dark goth pack” and so did Time Out London when they got in contact with Freya to be featured in their Halloween October issue which celebrated the resurgence of Goth culture. Freya introduced the new year with new single ‘Write Her Off’ along with performing spoken word poetry at the London Palladium supporting Dr John Cooper-Clarke.
In May, Freya released ‘Tatianna’, labeled as a pop classic by numerous commentators, immediately gained attention on YouTube hitting almost 10k views in over a month, and was chosen by Amy Lame on BBC6 Music as her ‘Sunday Girl’. Through this success, Hunger Magazine reached out to Freya and featured her in their fashion editorial, ‘Silhouette Session’, in issue 31 which was a collaboration with Schwarzkopf and shot by the iconic photographer Rankin. The download version of ‘Tatianna’ is supplemented by a 4 track EP featuring all 4 of her recent releases. ‘Tatianna’, ‘Write Her Off’, ‘Fantasy’, and ‘Galore’.
September will bring, False Hope, the next single recorded in Colchester with producer Tom Donovan who has worked with the likes of Miles Kane.
Beer also has her own show on Islington Radio, ‘Freya Beer’s Gothic Disco’, which is an eclectic mix of musical genres featuring guests such as punk journalist John Robb and TV host and comedian Jonathan Ross.
Brands Freya has collaborated with include Dr Martens, Killstar, Kiehls, Rokit Vintage, Youth To The People.
