The year is 2004 and it’s all about Paramore, Bring Me The Horizon, Britney and The Streets. But we had something special in York and so, twenty years on, please welcome four of the best bands to hammer Fibbers that year.
With a total of 173 shows on those hallowed Stonebow boards, ladies and gents lean against something sturdy if the Zimmer is not close by and put your hands together for this handsome lot in their prime...
The supercharged power-pop of AKP led by Alex King (57 shows).
Stu Allan-fronted THE BLUEPRINTS kicking out guitar-driven harmony-laden wonky pop (44 shows).
Were CARDBOARD RADIO with helmsman Andy Gaines the smartest, tightest and grooviest? Judge their early Zep, music hall and Kinks, mashed with nu-skool glam indie rock and roll for yourself (41 shows).
And kicking us off with ‘Funk Punk Rock’ it’s CUSTOMER 1000 in the VIP queue with Jimmy Greenall and Louis Bradley at the fore (31 shows).
I mean, come on, what’s not to love. Relive those sweaty smoke-filled days of Fibbs. Cramped toilets, posters everywhere, Steve on the door, Beck’s Bier, gorgeous bar staff and grumpy Tim always lurking somewhere.
This won’t happen again…
